Call of Duty is a video game developed by Infinity Ward released in 2004. It is loosely based on the game Quake III, with its war and infantry theme. The game was widely accepted upon it's release, making it one of the most popular simulated games on the market. A spinoff game was released a year later under the same game developer called the Call of Duty 2. Other spinoffs were made specifically for other gaming consoles such as Playstation and Xbox, and also other versions for some portable consoles such as the Nintendo DS. Another Call of Duty game is scheduled for release sometime this year
